Texas Hold'em fundamentals
Each player receives two hole cards. Five community cards are dealt in stages (flop, turn, river). The best five-card hand wins. Position is crucial, playing last gives you information advantage.

Starting hand selection
Premium hands (AA, KK, QQ, AK suited) should almost always be raised. Suited connectors (89s, JTs) play well in position. Fold weak hands from early position. Tight-aggressive play is the most profitable style for beginners.

Reading opponents
Pay attention to bet sizing, timing, and patterns. Large bets often indicate strength or bluffs. Quick calls usually mean drawing hands. Changes in behavior signal hand strength changes.

Bankroll management for poker
For cash games, have at least 20 buy-ins for your stake level. For tournaments, 50-100 buy-ins is recommended. Never play stakes where losing would affect your daily life.
