This is a summary of the Gambling Commission rules in force for UK online casino accounts. The source for each is the UK Gambling Commission.
Online slot stake limits
Since 9 April 2025, the maximum stake on an online slot spin is £5 for players aged 25 and over. Since 21 May 2025, the limit is £2 for players aged 18 to 24.
Bonus wagering capped at 10x
Since 19 January 2026, wagering requirements on promotions offered to UK players are capped at 10 times the bonus. Promotions that require you to play more than one product, for example casino and sports betting together, are banned.
Age and identity checks before you play
Operators have had to verify your age and identity before you can deposit or gamble since May 2019. This includes free-to-play demo versions of games on a licensed site.
No gambling on credit cards
Credit cards cannot be used to gamble with UK-licensed operators, a ban in force since 14 April 2020.
What this means for players
Welcome offers from UKGC-licensed casinos should now show wagering of 10x or less. If a site offers UK players a higher requirement, or accepts a credit card, it is either not UK-licensed or not following the rules. Check the licence on the Commission's public register, and use GAMSTOP if you want to block every UK gambling site at once.
